What Is the LucenceINSIGHT Me Test?
LucenceINSIGHT Me is a multi-cancer early detection (MCED) blood test that screens for signs
of 9 cancers at once. 6 of the cancers tested for are fixed, and you add 3 more from a
list of 12, depending on your risk factors such as family history and lifestyle.
Most other cancer screening blood tests use a fixed panel, so the cancers covered may have little to
do with your own risk. A woman with two relatives who had ovarian cancer can add ovarian,
endometrial and cervical to her panel. A man with a long smoking history and a family history of
stomach cancer can choose stomach, oesophageal and bladder instead.
Which Cancers Does LucenceINSIGHT Me Screen For?
LucenceINSIGHT Me screens for 9 cancers in total: 6 that every panel includes, plus 3 that you can select.
The 6 Core Cancers
Every LucenceINSIGHT Me panel covers these 6:
The 3 Additional Cancers
You select 3 of the following 12 to complete your panel:
How Does the LucenceINSIGHT Me Test Work?
The test looks for cancer-related DNA changes in circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA),
the
genetic fragments that tumours
release into the bloodstream.
Cancer cells have DNA changes that healthy cells do not, so finding those changes in a blood sample
can indicate that a tumour is present somewhere in the body, sometimes before any symptom appears.
During your consultation, your doctor will review your history and decide with you which three
additional cancers to add. A blood
sample is then taken and sent for analysis.
Who Should Consider the LucenceINSIGHT Me Test?
LucenceINSIGHT Me is intended for adults aged 40 and above with an elevated risk of
cancer, whether from family history, diet or lifestyle.
The ability to choose three of the nine cancers makes it most useful when you have a
specific concern rather than a general one, since that is where the test is tailored to you.
The test is not recommended if you:
- Are pregnant
- Have been in cancer remission for less than three years
- Have had surgery, an allogeneic (donor) bone marrow transplant or a blood transfusion within two weeks before your blood draw

How to Prepare for the LucenceINSIGHT Me Test
Preparation is minimal, and no fasting is required.
- Avoid heavy meals for at least four hours before your appointment.
- Prepare your family history, since it informs which three cancers are recommended for your panel.
Inform your doctor if you have had surgery, an allogeneic (donor) bone marrow transplant or a blood transfusion in the two weeks beforehand, as the test is not recommended in those cases.
How Long Does the LucenceINSIGHT Me Test Take?
The appointment takes about 30 to 60 minutes during off-peak periods, including your consultation and the blood draw. The results typically take 18 working days, and your doctor will contact you to explain the findings.
What Do Your LucenceINSIGHT Me Results Mean?
LucenceINSIGHT Me is a screening test, not a diagnostic one. This means it
can detect signs that a cancer may be present, but it cannot confirm that you have one.
Further tests such as imaging
or a biopsy are needed to establish whether cancer is present and where.
A result showing no cancer-related DNA changes is also not a guarantee that you are
cancer-free. It means no such changes were detected for the nine cancers on your panel, at
the level the test can measure, on the day your blood was taken. Small or early tumours may
shed too little DNA to register, and cancers
outside your nine are not screened for.
LucenceINSIGHT Me complements conventional screening rather than replacing it, so your
existing mammograms,
colonoscopy and cervical screening should continue as scheduled. Whatever your result, your
doctor will review it with you and explain what, if anything, should follow.
"LucenceINSIGHT Me lets patients choose three of the nine cancers themselves, so the
panel can be tailored to their own family history rather than a fixed list. It puts them
in control of what they are screened for."
