What Is the Lucence CardioHemeRISK Test?

The Lucence CardioHemeRISK test is a simple blood test that checks for hidden genetic changes linked to a higher risk of heart attack, stroke and leukaemia.

It works by looking for specific mutations, specifically clonal haematopoiesis (CH), in your blood that may develop as you age or due to lifestyle factors, even if you feel completely healthy. By detecting these early changes, CardioHemeRISK helps you take proactive steps to monitor and manage your long-term health.

At ATA Medical, we offer the Lucence CardioHemeRISK blood test at $2,616 NETT, inclusive of GST.

How Does the CardioHemeRISK Test Work?

The CardioHemeRISK test detects clonal haematopoiesis mutations in 11 genes that are commonly linked to ageing and long-term lifestyle factors such as smoking, poor diet or chronic stress. These genes are:

ASXL1, DNMT3A, JAK2, PPM1D, FLT3, IDH2, RUNX1, SF3B1, TET2, TP53, SRSF2

The test measures how much of these mutations are present and calculates your overall risk score for developing the following conditions:

Who Should Consider the CardioHemeRISK Test?

This test is recommended for adults aged 40 to 79 who may have underlying risk factors or personal and family history suggesting elevated risk for cardiovascular or haematological conditions. Suitable individuals include:

  1. Have cardiovascular risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol or smoking history
  2. Have experienced a heart attack or stroke
  3. Have a family history of leukaemia, myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), or sudden cardiovascular events
  4. Have previously undergone chemotherapy or radiation therapy

It is not recommended for individuals who have had a recent blood transfusion (within the past 2 weeks) or an allogeneic bone marrow transplant. Please consult our doctors beforehand to determine if it is suitable for you.

What Happens After You Receive the Results?

CardioHemeRISK is not a diagnostic tool, but it can help guide further evaluation and preventive strategies. Depending on your score, your doctor may recommend:

  • Closer monitoring and regular follow-up screening (e.g. ECG, echocardiogram, full blood count)
  • Lifestyle changes such as smoking cessation, weight management, improved nutrition and regular exercise
  • Management of underlying conditions such as hypertension or diabetes

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

At ATA Medical, we offer LucenceINSIGHT liquid biopsy tests to screen for up to 50 different cancer types beyond CardioHemeRISK. These tests range from targeted 5-cancer panels to broader multi-cancer options. The most suitable test depends on your medical history, risk factors and screening goals. Consult our doctor to help determine whether these tests are appropriate for your needs.
The CardioHemeRISK test helps assess your future risk of developing heart attack, stroke or leukaemia by detecting clonal haematopoiesis mutations in your blood. These mutations become more common with age and may indicate hidden risk not captured by conventional screening. The test is especially relevant for individuals aged 40 to 79 or those with a personal or family history of cardiovascular or blood-related conditions.
The CardioHemeRISK test is currently not MediSave-claimable and is generally not covered by standard health insurance in Singapore. However, coverage may vary depending on your insurer, policy type or corporate benefits. It is best to check directly with your insurance provider regarding possible reimbursement.
Yes, the CardioHemeRISK test can be done alongside other cardiovascular, cancer-related or general health screening packages offered at ATA Medical. It may also be combined with additional blood tests, imaging scans or ECGs for a more comprehensive assessment. It is advisable to consult a doctor to determine which screenings and tests are most appropriate based on your risk factors and health concerns.
Fasting is not strictly required before the CardioHemeRISK test, but it is generally advised to avoid heavy meals for at least 4 hours before your appointment. This helps reduce variability in blood content that could potentially affect sample quality. If you are doing other fasting blood tests on the same day, your doctor may recommend fasting beforehand to accommodate both tests. Always follow the clinic’s instructions before your visit.
The CardioHemeRISK test is a genetic blood test that detects clonal haematopoiesis mutations linked to the risk of heart attack, stroke and leukaemia, while routine blood tests or cholesterol screening assess general health markers such as blood counts or lipid levels. CardioHemeRISK identifies age-related genetic changes not typically captured by standard tests. If you are unsure, consulting our doctors can help determine whether it adds value to your risk assessment.
Yes, the CardioHemeRISK test can be considered even if you have no symptoms or known family history, as clonal haematopoiesis mutations may develop silently with age. The test is designed for risk assessment rather than diagnosis and may be relevant for proactive screening. Consulting our doctors can help determine if the test is appropriate based on your health profile and goals.
If you have an elevated CardioHemeRISK score, your doctor may recommend repeating the test annually or once every few years depending on your result category and clinical context. Repeat testing can help monitor changes in clonal mutation levels over time.
The CardioHemeRISK test is generally recommended for adults aged 40 to 79, as clonal haematopoiesis becomes more prevalent with age. While it can technically be performed on younger individuals, its clinical value in that group may be limited. Consulting our doctors can help assess whether early testing is relevant based on your risk factors or medical history.
A high CardioHemeRISK score suggests a significantly increased likelihood of developing heart attack, stroke or leukaemia in the future due to detectable clonal mutations. While it does not confirm disease, it may warrant closer monitoring, lifestyle modifications and additional screening. Your doctor will recommend appropriate next steps, which may include regular screenings or targeted lifestyle changes based on your overall health profile.
Yes, ATA Medical offers an optional mobile blood draw service for the CardioHemeRISK test, suitable for individuals who prefer home-based collection. This service is subject to availability and incurs an additional fee of $54.50 per location for groups of up to 5 persons. Contact us to check availability and schedule a home-based appointment.
