Received your In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter for Singapore Permanent Residency? The IPA letter outlines four main actions you need to complete:
- Medical Check Up
- Purchase of Insurance
- Prepare Supporting Documents for Verification
- Book Appointment with ICA
Medical Check Up
The PR medical checkup is a mandatory health screening required by ICA before your
status can be formalised. It typically includes a general physical
examination,
chest X-ray. You will need to bring your in-principle approval
form and medical form.
At ATA Medical, we offer PR medical checkups with on-site X-ray, mammogram,
and ultrasound
facilities. Reports are typically ready within 48 hours,
with same-day reports available for an additional $32.70 NETT.
Our clinics are located at:
- Tanjong Pagar Clinic: Located in central Singapore, a 4-minute walk from Tanjong Pagar MRT station
- Orchard Clinic: A 2-minute walk from Orchard Boulevard MRT station (TE13)
- Jurong Clinic: A 3-minute walk from Jurong East MRT station (EW24/NS1)
Purchase of Insurance
You must be insured under MediShield Life. If you are above 30, you are also required to be insured under CareShield Life.
What is MediShield Life?
MediShield Life is a basic health insurance scheme that provides Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents with universal and lifelong protection against large healthcare bills, regardless of age or health condition.
What is CareShield Life?
CareShield Life is a long-term care insurance that offers financial support to Singaporeans and Permanent Residents if they experience severe disability and need long-term care.
Prepare Supporting Documents for Verification
You will find a checklist of documents that ICA requires for verification in the IPA
letter.
You can expect the documents listed to be the ones you originally submitted during
your Singapore PR application.
Ensure you gather these documents correctly before your in-person appointment with
an ICA officer.
Book Appointment with ICA
Upon receiving the medical report (or medical certificate), insurance documents and
preparing all other mandatory documents listed in the IPA letter, you may proceed to
book an in-person appointment with ICA.
The ICA officer will verify your documents during the appointment. This verification
process takes about an hour.
What Happens After the Verification Process?
After the completion of the verification process, you will receive the following:
- A temporary identity receipt
- A collection slip for your Singapore Identity Card
- An Entry Permit
- A Re-Entry Permit (REP)
- The Singapore History brochure
These will be given on the same day. You must make another ICA appointment to collect your official Identity Card.
