HPV Prevention And Vaccination

Vaccination against the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) provides additional protection from cervical cancer. There are more than 100 strains of HPV. Certain strains are considered high risk types and these strains cause cervical cancer.

Females aged 9-26 are strongly encouraged to get the HPV vaccination to lower their risk of cervical cancer. Females who have had HPV vaccination are still encouraged to go for regular cervical cancer screening as the vaccination does not protect against all strains of the virus.

ATA Medical provide two types of vaccines, Cervarix-2 and Gardasil-9. Cervarix-2 protects against HPV types 16 and 18, which accounts for more than 70% of all cervical cancer. Gardasil-9 provides protection against an additional 20% of cancer-causing HPV types. For more information, you may also read Healthhub's HPV FAQ.

Please ask our doctor for the vaccination that is best suited for you. A two or three dose vaccination schedule will be advised depending on your age.
